The Gateway to Kruger
Umbhaba Eco Lodge is situated just 1 km outside Hazyview on the R40, between Hazyview and White River. We are surrounded by natural, indigenous bush including the Umbhaba Tree (Lowveld Chestnut) after which the lodge is named. The lodge is built among stunning dams and water features, overlooking the Sabie valley in the distance. We have abundant bird life and the most beautiful sunsets, making it the perfect location for a sundowner after an amazing safari in the Kruger National Park.

Umbhaba Eco Lodge is only 15 km to Numbi & Phabeni gate, allowing one to enter and exit at different gates. This greatly increases your chances of seeing abundant wildlife in different vegetation zones and offers a variation in scenery.
Each room has its very own private balcony, all en-suite & air-conditioned with Wi-Fi.

Buffet Dinners
The Tuskers restaurant at Umbhaba Eco Lodge overlooks the stunning Sabi valley in the distance, it has a relaxed atmosphere where guests can wind down at the end of a day full of activities or discuss the highlights of a great safari. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating options.

The restaurant caters for breakfast & dinner, and clients checking in for lunch can request a light menu; our excellent chefs will ensure the best meals. Our menus change regularly and are focused on traditional cuisine.

Kruger National Park Safaris
Looking for a safari while staying at Umbhaba Eco lodge? We make use of a local safari operator – Kurt Safari. They offer day tours into the Kruger on open safari vehicles using professional guides. Rated at number 1 on TripAdvisor, they offer morning, afternoon and full day safaris into the Kruger National Park and also a variety of 3-4-5 day safaris departing from Johannesburg daily.

Eco Friendly

All Grey Water
The water from our showers, basins, kitchen and all ‘grey’ water flows into separate holding tanks on the property where we add water from the irrigation scheme and use it to irrigate our lawns and gardens. When the lodge is in full occupancy we can save as much as 20-30 000 liters a day in a region where water is very precious.

Air Conditioning
We have installed all new Inverter system air conditioners throughout the property which reduces power consumption by as much as 30%.

Geysers
We have installed industrial heat pumps that feed all the rooms this saves as much as 60% on electricity, compared to using 43 separate geysers in all rooms.

Kitchen Scraps
All kitchen scraps and food left discarded by clients is given to a local pig farmer daily.

Recycling
All plastics, glass and metal cans are all recycled to reduce our impact on the environment.
